Traditional black-and-white images that show your baby’s outline and shape. 2D is the scan usually used to find out if it’s a boy or a girl.
3D
Still, full-color pictures of your baby’s face and features. Catch them sucking a thumb, yawning or smiling.
4D
Like 3D, but moving. Watch your baby smile, yawn and play with their toes in real time, in color.

What is an in-home baby ultrasound?
A 2D, 3D or 4D ultrasound of your baby, done in your own home. We’re mobile only: our sonographer brings a portable ultrasound machine to you, so you can enjoy the moment in a private, comfortable setting.

Is this a medical exam?
No. We don’t diagnose. Rainbow Showers is only for pictures of your baby and the experience for your family, so keep seeing your doctor for your prenatal care.
Is it safe?
Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, to create images. Your scan is done by a certified sonographer with 16 years of OB/GYN experience.
What happens during the visit?
We put a little gel on your belly and use the portable machine to show your baby on screen in real time: face, fingers, toes and more.
How long does it take?
Around 30 minutes. It can vary with your baby’s position and your body.
When is the best time to book?
You can book at any point in your pregnancy. Text us your due date and we’ll tell you what you can expect to see at that stage.
How do I get ready?
We’ll send you specific instructions before your visit. In general, drink plenty of water beforehand.
What if my baby doesn’t cooperate?
It happens! If your baby is facing away, the cord or placenta is in front of the face, or there’s low fluid, pictures may not come out as clear. We always do our best to get you beautiful images and enough time.
Is it covered by insurance?
No. It’s an elective keepsake service, so insurance doesn’t cover it.
